PORTFOLIO 14: HEDGING and BOOSTING.
VIDEO 1: THE IMPORTANCE OF HEDGING

- Watch the video and COPY the 5 pairs of sentence.
VIDEO 2: HEDGING AND BOOSTING. (at 3:43 min some theory on BOOSTING begins).
- Watch the second video and COPY (SOME) SAMPLES
- Look up ANOTHER SOURCE (video, encyclopedia entry, academic article...) that refers to these topics.
- Paste it in your portfolio
- write an introduction, brief summary (PAY ATTENTION TO PARAGRAPH STRUCTURE!!!) and upload it to to your e-portfolio. Use:
- paragraph by example?
- paragraph by comparison?
- paragraph by contrast?
- other?
- Create THREE podcasts with the AUDIORECORDING TOOL: VOCAROO.
- DEFINITION of HEDGING.
- DEFINITION of BOOSTING.
- A SHORT piece of advice: WHY should an academic text writer have these two characteristics in mind?

PORTFOLIO 11: Discourse and Context in Language Teaching.
PART 1:
- Divide yourselves into FOUR groups,
- Read one chapter,
- prepare a presentation:
- it should take you NO LONGER than 30 minutes,
- you MAY use a multimedia presentation.
(Virtual Class: July 10th)
PORTFOLIO #11.
PART 2:
EACH group has prepared a short presentation. Now it's your turn to SHARE your notes.
- open a gdoc (PRESENTATION) >>> one per group.
- paste your NOTES on the slides (DO NOT paste long pieces of text, avoid Copy/Paste. THESE ARE NOTES!)
- add a COVER, name of college, subject, name of students, INDEX, name of chapter, BIBLIOGRAPHY (appropriately cited, last slide ), new examples, QUOTATION MARKS for quotes and aknowledgement for pictures.
- send me the SHORT URL of your GROUP presentation (you can choose ANY from the list below, or look up another tool!)
- ONE member of the group sends me the SHORTENED URL.
- I will paste the links below: (the prsentarions NEED NOT BE COMPLETE!!!!, SEND THEM ASAP, PLS!)
- Chapter 6: LISTENING. NEW LINK UPLOADED
- Chapter 7: READING
- Chapter 8: WRITING
- Chapter 9: SPEAKING
- FINALLY, you'll paste the 4 chapters onto YOUR OWN portfolios.
IMPORTANT: to enhance COHESION (and why not coherence) in your presentation, USE THE SAME CRITERIA:
- same fonts,
- same bullets,
- title in capital letters?,
- bulleted list ot summary?,
- with or without pictures?,
- text highlighted? HOW?,
- QUOTATION MARKS (to highlight the original text).
- OTHERWISE it'll have NO UNITY at all, it'll be a collection of loose slides.
