PORTFOLIO 18.2: WALLS OF DIFFERENT KINDS.

Visit the article: "World of Walls: How 65 Countries have erected fences ... " available HERE.
  • Watch the videos, visit the links, read the texts, etc.
  • WORK IN PAIRS. Write a reflection in your portfolio (2 paragraphs EACH>>> Student A/ Student B/Student A/ Student B). 
  • You MAY inlcude all/any of these questions:
    • What shocked you most?
    • Why did you read one specific section?
    • Did you know that there were so many walls all over the world?
    • What is the impact of walls on local population?
    • Are these barriers useful? For whom?
    • Have you ever heard of these fences?
    • Do you think that in the future they're going to be pulled down?
    • Are they an innovative strategy?
  • Embed the map/infographic.
  • You may paste the 4 paragraphs on the BODY of your entry, it could be a GDOC linked to part of the text, YOU CHOOSE.

Work with a PARTNER.
Go through the material in THIS LINK. Read the "essay that suggests reasons for and solutions to a problem": WOMEN IN SCIENCE. Work with the prereading, during reading and after reading activities.

PORTFOLIO:

  • Open a SHARED DOC and write an ESSAY following these suggestions.
  • Title: Gender diversity in Education
  • Make sure 
    • you have  included the instructions, suggestions from the site, 
    • have paid attention to the macrostructure of the text (MOVES!!),
    • paragraph organization (TOPIC SENTENCE, Thesis statement, etc),
    • cohesion and coherence (LINKERS!)
    • specific vocabulary,
    • AMONG MANY OTHERS.
  • Write the 5-paragraph essay and EDIT it.
  • finally, paste EVERYTHING (links, excercises, vocabulary lists, ...everything that you consider worth) ON YOUR E-PORTFOLIOS.
